Phase 1 of the master plan has been implemented and included expanded parking,  a new preschool wing and student ministries center - The Highway. We developed the initial master plan for this church shortly before hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and the surrounding Parishes. The impact of the storm on the church was significant. First, the congregation lost many families in the wake of the storm; those who had lost homes or jobs as well as those that no longer wanted to live in an area at such high risk. Second, the church became a response center in the wake of the storm, housing emergency workers and volunteers. Consequently, when the first phase of the plan was implemented, it needed to be scaled-back to reflect the loss of resources but it now included provisions to serve as an emergency center, should another natural disaster occur.
